Carlson, Frawley power Scrappers

TROY, N.Y. — Ben Carlson hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning and Casey Frawley followed it up with a solo shot to help power the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to a 7-4 victory over the Tri-City Valley Cats in a New York-Penn League game on Tuesday.

Frawley went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Greg Folgia went 2-for-5 with a triple, a run and two RBIs and Chun Chen went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI for Mahoning Valley.

Marty Popham (4-1) gave up two runs in eight innings to get the win. He struck out four, did not walk a batter and gave up eight hits.

Antwonie Hubbard (two innings) and Tyler Sturdevant (one inning) each gave up a run in relief for the Scrappers.
