Womancare to display Lilly Oncology on Canvas
HERMITAGE — Lilly Oncology on Canvas, an art exhibition honoring the journeys traveled by millions of people affected by cancer worldwide, will be on display Aug. 10 through Aug. 21 at the Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon, 875 Hermitage Road.
Lilly Oncology on Canvas began in 2004 as an international art competition for those whose lives had been touched by women’s cancers. People were invited to use art as a means of expressing the struggles and successes in battling the disease.
In addition to the Lilly Oncology exhibit, the Womancare Center will display artwork created by UPMC Horizon oncology patients and photos and stories from the recent American Cancer Society Relay for life in Greenville. For more information visit www.lillyoncology.com.
USA Dance event YOUNGSTOWN — USA Dance will have its monthly dance from 5-9 p.m., featuring a free cha cha lesson, Aug. 20 at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave. The evening will start with “Free tutoring for Beginners & Basics” at 5 p.m., followed by a 5:30 cha cha lesson sponsored by Jim Ferris and Suzanne Gelinas of Cavana Ballroom. Open dancing to Ballroom, Latin, Swing and Hustle follows from 6:15 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dances are open to the public, with or without partners. Admission this month is $5 for USA Dance members, $10 for nonmembers and guests, and $2.50 for students.
