Man charged in wife’s death, though no body found
LANSFORD, Pa. (AP) — An eastern Pennsylvania man has been charged with his wife’s death, more than 18 months after she disappeared.
State police arrested 34-year-old Ernest Freeby of Lansford early today and charged him with criminal homicide.
Troopers say he is responsible for the death of his 34-year-old wife, Edwina Onyango, who was an immigrant from Kenya.
Onyango disappeared in December 2007 while on her way to meet Freeby. Police have said in a search warrant that Onyango was taken down the basement steps of Freeby’s home and placed in a coal bin.
Onyango’s body has not been found.
