Make-A-Wish Foundation to be beneficiary of fundraiser
Twelve Dairy Queens in the tri-county area are helping to raise money for the foundation.

Dairy Queens in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties are raising money by fulfilling appetites.
Today through Sunday, 12 local Dairy Queen stores will participate in a banana-split-eating contest to raise money for The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
The first contests will be at 4 p.m. today at the Youngstown Dairy Queen, 2155 Belmont Ave., and 6 p.m. at Cortland Dairy Queen on 160 High St., and the Cornersburg Dairy Queen on 3555 S. Meridian Road.
The rest of the dates are:
UWednesday — 5:30 p.m., Champion Dairy Queen, 119 State Road N.W.; 7:30 p.m., Lordstown Dairy Queen, 6780 Tod Ave. S.W.
UThursday — 6 p.m., Boardman Dairy Queen, 6120 Market St.; 7 p.m., Newton Falls Dairy Queen, 20 S. Milton Blvd.
USaturday — 1 p.m., Howland Dairy Queen, 6033 E. Market St.; 2 p.m., East Palestine Dairy Queen, 262 S. Market St.
USunday — Noon, New Middletown Dairy Queen, 10201 Main St.; 3 p.m.: North Lima Dairy Queen, 10067 Market St. Ext.
The entry fee for each contest is $5. The winner of the 8- to 12-year-old category will receive $25 cash, five free banana-split vouchers and a T-shirt. The winners of the 13-to-18 and 19-and- older categories will receive $50 cash, 10 free banana-split vouchers and a T-shirt.
The public can purchase coupon books, valued at $26, at each of the participating locations for $5 each. From every book sold, $4 will be donated back to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
