Man indicted on kidnapping, attempted-murder charges
YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted 26 people, including a man accused of kidnapping and attempted murder.
The grand jury also levied charges against a man recently accused of beating a young child.
Daniel Austin, 51, of Forestview Drive, is indicted on charges of kidnapping, aggravated burglary, felonious assault and attempted aggravated murder with repeat violent-offender specifications.
Austin is accused of pushing his way into the residence of a woman on Youngstown’s East Side, abducting the woman and threatening her with serious bodily harm. He was arrested June 25 at the Akron Greyhound bus station.
Robert Armstrong, 26, of N. Hazelwood Drive; Jerbrail Grhim, 19, of Monroe Street, Campbell; and Elijah Johnson, 21, address unknown, are indicted on charges of felonious assault and conspiracy to commit felonious assault with firearm specifications.
The indictment says the three men attempted to cause physical harm with a firearm to another man June 23.
Grhim has also been arrested in the brutal beating of a small child in mid-July.
The child, of Lucius Avenue, was reportedly assaulted with a wire coat hanger by Grhim, who is not related to the child. The child also was punched several times and held underwater in a bathtub.
