Deliberations under way in Anthony Caulton murder trial
YOUNGSTOWN — The fate of a man accused of gunning another man down in front of hundreds of spectators at a little league football game is now in the hands of the jury.
Anthony Caulton, 27, of East Auburndale Avenue, is on trial in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. He is accused of fatally shooting Larry D. Jones, 31, of Ravenwood Avenue, at the former South High Stadium football field during a youth football game in 2006.
Caulton’s trial started state last week.
He faces life imprisonment if convicted.
Dawn Cantalamessa and Mark Hockensmith, assistant county prosecutors handling the trial, and Atty. Lynn Maro, representing Caulton, offered closing statements this afternoon. A jury of four women and eight men spent the rest of the afternoon deliberating the case.
