Legion post honored

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. — Sharpsville American Legion Post 162 received the 2009 Law and Order Award and Americanism Award for dedication and commitment to its community. Randy Arnold accepted the awards on behalf of Post 162 at the Pennsylvania American Legion’s Department Convention at the Westin Hotel in Pittsburgh.

PROMOTIONS

Commanding officer

WARREN — Navy Cmdr. Robert W. Mook, son of Sandra and Robert Mook of Warren, has assumed the position of commanding officer of Navy Recruiting District San Diego, Calif. Mook’s previous duty stations include the USS Sterett, based in San Diego, and various shore assignments including serving as the deputy assistant secretary of defense’s unit for counternarcotics, counterproliferation and global threats located at the Pentagon. Mook joined the Navy in May 1991.

BASIC TRAINING GRADS

Air Force: Reserve Airman Jenna R. Goodall (Hickory High School, Hermitage, Pa., ’08), daughter of Brenda Goodall and Bradley Goodall, both of Hermitage.

Navy: Seaman Erin E. Griner (Girard High School, ’03, Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa., ’08), daughter of Elizabeth A. and Samuel E. Griner of Girard.
