12 Youngstown Striders qualify for AAU regional
YOUNGSTOWN — Twelve members of the Youngstown Striders Track and Field Club have qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics that will be at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, from Monday through Saturday.
The qualifers earned their trip at the AAU Region 9 qualifier at the University of Dayton. That meet had more than 1,500 competitors from Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, West Virginia and Tennessee.
The top four finishers earned a berth in the AAU Junior Olympics.
The Striders qualifiers are:
Zane Cylar, 9 years old — 200 (30.39) second; long jump (11-11), fourth.
Dimaje Clinkscale, 12 — Discus (67-10) fourth.
Jayshawn Coleman, 12 — 100 (13.4) fourth; 200 (26.54) third; 400 (1:01) second.
Morgan Perdue, 12 — 80m hurdles (18.2) second; long jump (12-11.0) fourth; high jump (4-0.) first.
Jordan Wilkins, 14 — long jump (17-2.50) third.
Tyler Mettille, 15-16 — 110m hurdles (16.2) first; 400m hurdles (1:00.09) first; long jump (20-0.5) second.
Alexander Pettway, 17-18 — 100 (11.12) fourth; 200 (22.28) third.
Naomi Patmon, 13 — javelin throw (39-09.50) third place.
Toi Brown, 14 — javelin throw (55-0) third place.
Constance Pettway, 14 — javelin throw (69-05) second.
Jacaia Stoffer 15-16 — javelin throw (63-9.) third place.
Shatasia Walker, 17-18 — 100m hurdles (15.30) second; long jump (16-03) fourth.
