Job Expo 2009

YOUNGSTOWN — Job Expo 2009 will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Covelli Centre. The event is sponsored by the CareerLink of Lawrence and Mercer counties in Pennsylvania and the Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana County One-Stop Workforce systems.

Employer and training-provider registration is under way. Last year, the Expo had 60 employers and 16 training providers. More information is available at www.onestop-ohio.org.

Nursing home renamed

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Windsor House Inc. has announced that Windsor House at Mahoning Valley Health Care Center, the company’s newest nursing home in New Middletown, will be renamed Masternick Memorial Health Care Center, after the company’s founders, John and Dorothy Masternick.

“Renaming the facility after my parents is a tribute they have earned and deserve,” said John J. Masternick, company president and chief executive.

Farmers National profits

CANFIELD — Farmers National Banc Corp. earned $1.66 million, or 12 cents a share, in the second quarter, compared with $1.53 million, or 12 cents a share, in the same quarter last year. It is the holding company for Farmers National Bank.

Stoneridge posts loss

HOWLAND — Stoneridge said it lost $19.8 million, or 84 cents a share, on sales of $102.3 million in the second quarter, compared with earnings of $4.7 million on sales of $213.2 million in the same quarter last year. The company blamed the declines on reduced production volumes for cars and commercial vehicles. Howland-based Stoneridge makes electronics and electrical components at plants around the world.

Natural-gas supplier reduces supply charges

ERIE, Pa. — The Pennsylvania division of National Fuel Gas Distribution Corp. has reduced its annual adjustment to gas-supply charges, effective today. The adjustment will lower the monthly bill of a typical residential customer in northwestern Pennsylvania who uses 100,000 cubic feet of natural gas annually from $117 to $84, a 28 percent reduction. National Fuel has customers in Mercer County.
