National Shrine will host pilgrimage Aug. 13-15

NORTH JACKSON — The National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, will host a pilgrimage Aug. 13-15 for the Feast of the Assumption on Aug. 15. Monsignor Anthony Spinosa is rector. Daily activities will be:

- Aug. 13: The shrine will open at 9 a.m. A retreat talk, sponsored by the Ladies Guild of St. Raymond’s Cathedral in St. Louis, and Our Lady of Lebanon Cathedral, Brooklyn, N.Y., will be at 4 p.m. A Roman rite liturgy will be celebrated at 7 p.m,. by the Rev. John Keehner, rector of St. Columba Cathedral and administrator of St. Casimir Church, both Youngstown. At 8, there will be a candlelight procession. Cedars Dining Hall will be open at 8:30.

- Aug. 14: The shrine will open at 9 a.m. and a Maronite Divine Liturgy will be at 10. The dining hall will open at noon. A retreat talk sponsored by the Ladies Guild is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the rosary will be at 6. A pontifical liturgy in the Byzantine rite will be at 7 with Archbishop Basil Schott, metropolitan archbishop for the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh. There will be a procession at 8 with Monsignor George Appleyard of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carnegie, Pa. Dining hall will be open at 8:30.

= Aug. 15: Shrine will open at 9 a.m. There will be a retreat talk sponsored by the Ladies Guild at 10, Melkite Divine Liturgy with St. Elias Church in Cleveland at noon and the dining hall will be open. There will be a rosary at 1 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Chapel or Tower. A Maronite Divine Liturgy and anointing of the sick will be at 2 p.m. with Bishops Robert Shaheen of the Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon of St. Louis and Gregory Mansour of the Eparchy of St. Maron of Brooklyn. Maronite vespers, chanted by the Antonine Sisters, are planned at 4 p.m. A Maronite pontifical liturgy will be at 7 with Bishops Shaheen and Mansour followed by a candlelight procession. The dining hall will be open.

- Aug. 16: The shrine will open at 9 a.m. and there will be a Maronite Divine Liturgy at 10. A lamb dinner is scheduled from 11 a,m. to 3 p.m. A Maronite Divine Liturgy at 5 p.m. will conclude the pilgrimage.
