j Artists of the Mahoning Commons — you know, the art colony in the old Ward Bakery Building (across from the U-Haul Building near downtown Youngstown) — are having another open studio and art sale this weekend. The W.D. Packard Concert Band’s free concert this Sunday is titled “Salute to Mother’s Day” and it will feature the winners of the Robert E. Fleming Concerto Competition. This year, it’s Laura Anderson, French horn, Boardman High School; and Theresa Izzo, clarinet, Austintown Fitch High School. The competition is held each year by the Packard band to present outstanding high school musicians with a scholarship opportunity. Sunday’s concert starts at 3 p.m. at Packard Music Hall in Warren.
