HUBBARD — In celebration of 20 years of service, the Youngstown-Warren Ohio Black Nurses Association has chosen “Yes We Can” as the theme for its annual scholarship brunch, scheduled for May 9 at the Brentford House on Myron Street.

The event will begin with a Chinese auction at 10 a.m. and will include the presentation of awards to scholarship recipients and of awards of appreciation to various community organizations.

Tickets are $20. For additional information on the event, call (330) 207-3125 or (330) 788-8151.

In appreciation

In recognition of its service to the community, members of YWOBNA were honored at a dinner provided by Katrina Walker, director of Hospice House. The group also received a certificate of appreciation from 300 Sisters in Red for its support of the African American Women’s Wellness Event.

In February the organization awarded $100 each to three senior citizens to provide prescription assistance.
