Girard center to offer computer classes for adults

GIRARD — The Girard Multi-Generational Center will present adult computer classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays in May.

All classes will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. in the computer lab at the center, 443 Trumbull Ave. The classes are free for center members and area dislocated workers.

A one-hour beginner computer class will be May 7. This class is designed specifically for students who have no experience with computers.

For students interested in learning or improving their Microsoft Word skills, two separate classes will be offered. Microsoft Word I will be May 12 and 14.

This class will explore the basics of word processing including how to create, edit, format and save documents.

Microsoft Word II classes will be May 19 and 21. More advanced word-processing techniques will be covered including spelling and grammar checker, tables and footnotes.

Students who are interested in learning the basics of spreadsheets and graphs can attend Microsoft Excel classes May 26 and 28. Students may stay in the lab for one hour after each class is concluded to practice and have further questions answered by the instructor.
