RTI International lost $1.5M on sales in first quarter of this year

RTI International Metals said today that it lost $1.5 million on sales of $106.1 million in the first quarter. In the same quarter last year, the company earned $22.2 million on sales of $150.6 million.

The company blamed last quarter’s loss on weakness in commercial aerospace markets, declines in energy and industrial markets and operational issues in its fabrication group.

RTI is based in Pittsburgh but operates a titanium mill in Weathersfield Township, where it also has some administrative offices.
