Since age 6, Jhung has studied dance, becoming one of the world’s most recognized and esteemed names in modern dance and ballet. Some facts:
After a six-month tour of duty in the National Guard, Jhung joined the Broadway cast of “Flower Drum Song,” a musical, before becoming a soloist with the San Francisco Ballet, regarded by many as one of the nation’s top ballet troupes.
Has been a mainstay of the New York City dance scene since the early 1970s, having worked with the American Ballet Theater and the New York City Ballet, along with numerous Broadway performers, other professionals and beginners.
Joined the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago and The Harkness Ballet of New York in 1962 and 1964, respectively. During this time, he toured Afghanistan, Iran, Italy, Russia, Portugal and many other countries.
Has taught at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center as well as numerous festivals and workshops across the country.
Founded the Chamber Ballet USA, then served as its artistic director from 1982-86.
Appeared recently as a ballet virtuoso on the Lifetime network.
Has won wide acclaim by critics for his technical abilities and stage presence.
Developed specialized methods to help students expand movement and improve posture, placement, alignment, technical execution, musicality and artistry.
