Austintown man charged with breaking and entering school

STAFF REPORT

AUSTINTOWN — Police arrested a township man after they said he admitted breaking in to Davis Elementary School over the weekend.

Calvin Waddle, 19, of Idaho Road, was taken into custody after he admitted breaking out a plastic window and entering the school just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police were called to the school after a neighbor said she saw someone forcing his way through a window on the north side of the building.

When police arrived, Waddle was playing football with friends just north of the school. He was questioned after police said he matched the witness’s description.

Initially, Waddle denied any involvement, but then he admitted to entering the building, police said. He said he took several steps inside before deciding to leave.

Waddle told police he was the only one in his group of friends who went inside the school.

He was booked on a charge of breaking and entering and released on bond. Waddle was scheduled to appear in court late Monday afternoon.
