BASEBALL

Salem 5-5, East Liverpool 3-3

SALEM — Dan Gagnon had two hits with two runs and three RBIs to lead Salem in the first game, while Dan Fortney and Nick Balsley each added two hits. Isaac Seevers had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two for East Liverpool, while Kyle Weyand had three hits. In the second game, Gagnon had two hits, three RBIs and scored a run for Salem. Brock Grafton had two hits for the Potters.

Beaver Local 13-13, Lisbon 2-12

LISBON — Josh Cook had two hits and Nate Santor and Shawn Mercer each had three-run homers to lead Beaver Local in the first game. In the second game, Travis Kidd had three hits and Andrew Lynch had two for BL. For Lisbon, Dustin Borg had three hits and four RBIs and Kyle Weinstock had two hits, including a three-run homer.

Mathews 5, Chaney 2

VIENNA — Collin Bowser and Reed Shields each hit safely twice for the Mustangs.

SOFTBALL

Howland 8, Lisbon 2

LISBON — Melanie Cope collected eight strikeouts for the Tigers (10-4) and she had two hits, one a double. Abby Nicholas added three hits, one a double, for the Tigers who opened an 8-1 lead after two innings.

Howland 3, Ursuline 1

Abby Nicholas struck out five for the Tigers. Ursuline (10-3) scored in the last of the seventh inning.

Uniontown Lake 6, Struthers 3

MASSILLON — Ellen Becker homered to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth and also had two singles and a double to lead Struthers. Katie Jordan added two hits for the Wildcats, who gave up three runs in the top of the eighth.

Dover 7, Struthers 0

Ashley Baron singled and doubled and Lauren Perry added two singles for the Wildcats. Baron struck out 11 to get the loss.

Struthers 16, GlenOak 5

Becker singled and homered, Baron had four hits, including two doubles, and Dana Mathews had three hits for Struthers, which compiled 16 hits. Sam Basista, Perry and Katie Jordan each had two hits.

Salem 10-14, Canton Timken 0-4

SALEM — Freshman Becca Devlin earned her first varsity victory and tossed her first no-hitter in the first game, then picked up her second win in the nightcap. Devlin struck out nine with two walks in the no-hitter, while Jessie Dillon added a double and a homer for the Quakers. Mistee Shadle had three hits, while Kaitlyn Kibler, Ashley Hunt and Alexis Smith each had three hits. In the second game, Smith, Deanna Walker and Shadle each had three hits for Salem (2-8), while Kibler and Dillon had two hits. Marissa Kennedy had three hits and Melissa Clark had two for Timken (3-9).
