AUCTIONS
• Forest City Matchcover Club of Ohio is sponsoring a one-day auction Saturday at the Comfort Inn in Austintown, 5425 Clarkins Drive. Preview of the auction lots will begin at 9 a.m., and the auction will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Items to be auctioned include matchbooks, matchcovers, matchboxes and other match-related items.
BINGO, CARD PARTIES
• Second Chance Animal Rescue will have a bingo fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. May 8 at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown. Admission is $5, which includes one bingo sheet with three bingo cards and a chance for a door prize. Additional bingo sheets are $1 each or get one free bingo sheet per person with a donation of paper towels, dish soap, tall kitchen trash bags or laundry soap. The money raised will help to fund the shelter’s trapping and spay/neuter programs. There will be 18 vendors with gift items for weddings, graduations and Mother’s day. A portion of the vendors’ sales of the evening will be donated to the shelter. The prizes for the bingo games will also be provided by the vendors. There will be a 50-50 drawing, Chinese auction and food for sale. Take pennies and dimes to cover bingo cards (no daubers) and donate them afterward to help the animals. DANCES
• Penn-Ohio Polka Pals Booster Club is having its 28th Annual Spring Dance from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kuzman’s Lounge, 1025 S. State St., Girard. The Del Sinchak Band will provide the music. The donation is $7 per person. There will be more than 50 door prizes.
FLEA MARKETS
• Salem Memorial Building Association will have an indoor flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 16 in the gymnasium. Vendors are welcome and can rent an 8-foot table with chairs for $10. Setup time will be from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. All items are subject to approval. To reserve a space, mail a check, payable to the association, to 785 E. State St., Salem, OH 44460. Food will be available. NIGHTS AT THE RACES
• Washingtonville VFW Post 5532, 575 S. Countyline Road, will sponsor a Night at the Races at 7 p.m. Saturday. Patrons can buy a horse for $25. Admission with a horse is $5. • Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty Township, will have a gently used sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Lunch and a bake sale will be both days. The sale will include such things as electronics, computers, tools, books, clothing jewelry, household items and toys.
• Concordia Lutheran Church, 125 N. Brockway, on the West Side of Youngstown, will have its annual rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Knickknacks, clothes, tools and many other items will be for sale. Hot dogs, sloppy joes, pizza, coffee and pop will be available for lunch. The sale is sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
• First United Methodist Church, 237 W. Silver St., Sharon, Pa., will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and there will be live music and a bake sale all day. There will be a $1-a-bag sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. • Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, 480 Youngstown-Poland Road, Struthers, is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The ReStore carries a wide variety of furniture, including a large selection of couches and many large metal professional office desks; used building materials such as doors, windows, sinks, hardware and plumbing; lighting; home decor items; large and small appliances; electronics; toys; books and much more. All items are sold at low discount prices. ReStore takes donations and sells to the public, all to benefit Habitat for Humanity’s home-building program. The class will be taught by Valerie Meyers, and will include a spring brunch menu of honey-vanilla fresh fruit salad, baked French toast casserole with cinnamon syrup, apple and sausage patties, and breakfast frittata.
