Cleanup days on East Side to begin Saturday

STAFF REPORT

YOUNGSTOWN — The Northeast Homeowners and Concerned Citizens Association will sponsor the first of three East Side Neighborhood Cleanup Days on Saturday.

East Side residents will donate their time to help clean up the litter and debris on public walkways, curbs, public green spaces along gateway corridors of Stewart and Park Vista avenues, Republic and Oak streets, McGuffey, Jacobs and McCartney roads and other extremely littered locations.

Help with the cleanup will be provided by local churches, businesses and other organizations. Gloves, safety vests, T-shirts and trash bags will be provided.

A limited number of rakes and shovels will be available, so participants are asked to bring those tools with them.

Volunteers will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Price Memorial AME Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave., to register, receive instructions and assignments. The cleanup will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at noon.

Refreshments will be provided after the cleanup in the church parking lot.

Residents who would like to help with the project should contact Glenda F. House, project coordinator, at (330) 743-9372 or Annie Hall, litter control supervisor, at (330) 742-4880 or by e-mail at nehomeownersassoc@neo.rr.com.

Also, businesses interested in providing materials or other types of assistance should contact Hall.
