Bring the tea party home

It is time for a Tea Party or a taxpayer revolt on the local level. We tax-paying voters need to vote down every tax levy, bond issue, and sales tax, new or renewal until we get our tax burden under control.

The private sector has had budget cuts, and pay cuts. They have had to assume more of their health care costs and in some cases have lost their retirement benefits. Many will have difficulty paying their property taxes due to lost jobs.

It is time for those feeding at the public trough to share in the pain and the burden. The pain of cut backs shouldn’t be too terrible considering the thousands upon thousands of our future tax dollars the federal government is pouring into our local school districts, county and local government coffers.

Once the economy improves and government agencies hopefully learn to exercise some fiscal restraint, we can decide what if any additional taxes are truly necessary.
