U. of Akron professor is reported missing

AKRON (AP) — A University of Akron faculty member who has researched crime-related reality TV shows is missing.

The university filed a missing-person report about associate professor Nancy Jean Brown after she stopped showing up for class April 10.

Akron police Capt. Dan Zampelli said Thursday there is no indication of foul play. He says police have not been able to find the 48-year-old woman and that relatives have not heard from her.

University spokesman Ken Torisky says she has not contacted anyone at the school.

Police say a neighbor saw her leaving her home in her car the day she was last in class.

Zampelli says police know of no link between Brown’s disappearance and her research. She teaches radio and television writing, among other subjects.
