YOUNGSTOWN — A shooting on the city’s South Side around 6 p.m. Thursday is the city’s fourth shooting during daylight hours within the last nine days.

Demetric D. Cobb, 27, of Park-cliffe Avenue was found lying on the enclosed front porch of 258 Hilton Ave. with a gunshot wound to his head and one to his buttocks, the police report said.

Cobb was coherent when the paramedics arrived, and he was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center. At the time the report was made, Cobb’s injuries weren’t life-threatening. The hospital would not provide any information on his condition late Thursday.

A black 1995 Olds Aurora was found sitting in the driveway of 259 Hilton with its doors open and the rear window full of bullet holes, the police report said.

Numerous 9mm shell casings were found around the car, and live 9mm rounds were found in the front yard of 254 Hilton. The house at 254 was hit several times, and spent rounds and bullet fragments were found inside the home, the report said. Several people were in the home, inluding two children, but none was injured.

The house at 258 was also fired upon, resulting in a broken front- porch window and a damaged front living-room window.

The witness at 258 Hilton Ave. said she and her family were inside when they heard many gunshots. By the time she looked outside, Cobb was the only person she saw, the report said.

Officers tried to question others in the area, but said no one was cooperative.
