Valley doctor bows out of dance competition

CLEVELAND — Dr. Elena Rossi of Boardman was eliminated Sunday from Cleveland’s Dancing With the Stars, a ballroom dance competition that pairs local celebrities with regional dance pros.

Dr. Rossi, a neonatologist, is the chairwoman of pediatrics at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Youngstown and associate chairwoman of pediatrics at Akron Children’s Hospital-Mahoning Valley in Boardman. She and her dance partner, Raymond Cedeno, made it through the first four rounds but fell in the fifth round, which was swing dancing.

The competition is sponsored by Cleveland television station WEWS-TV 5. It is modeled after the hit television show "Dancing With the Stars" but is not affiliated with it.

Dr. Rossi is also an associate professor of clinical pediatrics at Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine.
