New Castle man accused of sex crimes

STAFF REPORT

SHARON, Pa. — A man who works for an after-school tutoring program is accused of sending sexually explicit text messages to a 17-year-old program volunteer.

Police arrested Josh Curilovic, 29, of Garfield Avenue, New Castle, on Tuesday and charged him with unlawful contact with a minor, explicit sexual material toward a minor and corruption of a minor, according to documents on file at Senior District Magistrate Henry Russo’s office.

Police Chief Michael Menster said Curilovic sent the messages to the girl’s cell phone earlier this month.

Curilovic works for the school district’s Children’s Opportunity for Outside Learning program.

Menster said Curilovic also tried to get the girl to send him nude photos of herself. The girl’s parents contacted police.

After his arraignment, Curilovic was released on $20,000 bond.

His preliminary hearing is set for 12:30 p.m. May 6 in Russo’s court.

Sharon Schools Superintendent John Sarandrea said Curilovic is on an unpaid suspension while the school district conducts its own investigation.

He said Curilovic met the girl while working at C.M. Musser Elementary School.
