ACTORS

“Around the World in 80 Days.” Youngstown State University Theater will hold auditions from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Bliss Hall Theater Rehearsal Room. Four or five male actors and one or two female actresses are needed to play the 39 roles. Actors are encouraged to bring a prepared audition and will also be required to read from the script, copies of which are located in the Theater and Dance office on the first floor of Bliss Hall. “Around the World in 80 Days” will open YSU’s theater season in October. Set in 1872, the story relates the adventures of the eccentric Phileas Fogg, who navigates the world. Cast members will have the opportunity to work with internationally renowned dialect specialist Paul Meier in their preparation for this production.

“Barefoot in the Park.” Youngstown Playhouse production needs two women and four men. The cast will feature a female lead, age 21-32; a male lead, 24-33; a female supporting actress, 45-58; two male supporting, 45-68 and 35-55; and a male cameo, 55-65. All parts are open. Auditions will be at 5 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday at Kontinuous Jams Studio, 6911 Market St., Boardman. Performances swill be July 10-19 at Boardman Center Middle School.

“The Renter.” Needed, actors for short film to be shot in Youngstown/Sharon area. Casting requirements: Jason, male Caucasian, mid- to late 20s, average build, clean-cut; Casey, female Caucasian, 20s, slender, shoulder-length hair or longer; Bob, male, 40s, scruffy, medium/large build; hospital tech, male, 20s to 40s, average build; renter, male, 20s to 40s; Realtor 1, female, slender, any age; Realtor 2, male/female, any age; Realtor 3, male/female, any age. Auditions for all three productions are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Singers for “The King and I” should prepare a song; actors should be prepared to read from the scripts.
