Tennis teams to compete in league championships
YOUNGSTOWN — The men’s and women’s tennis teams will travel this weekend to Indianapolis to play in the Horizon League Tennis Championships. The women’s team is the No. 5 seed and will face No. 8 Wright State on Friday morning at 10 a.m.
The men’s team finished eighth in the league and will square-off with No. 1 Cleveland State on Friday at 1 p.m.
The women’s team finished the season with an overall record of 8-11 and with a 4-4 mark league play. The women last faced Wright State on Feb. 7 on the road, beating the Raiders 7-0. The victory marked the first of four league shutouts for YSU.
The men’s team wrapped up the season with an overall record of 5-14. The team did not have any league wins, but it did drop two close matches to Detroit and Valpo. Both teams got past the Guins by a score of 4-3. YSU last faced Cleveland State on March 1, dropping the match 6-1.
