A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

April 15

Identity theft: A Center Road woman filed a report stating she discovered $1,543 worth of fraudulent charges to her debit card.

April 17

Domestic violence: A 38-year-old Bedford Road man was charged after police received two 911 calls from the residence. The man’s wife had reported a situation and suffered a minor injury.

BOARDMAN

April 15

Theft: A worker for a Southern Park Mall store discovered a deposit containing money and two checks missing.

Theft of services: A representative for Armstrong Cable Services got a tip that a West Boulevard resident was receiving free cable TV. The resident agreed to pay in lieu of prosecution, a report said.

Auto theft: A 2007 Kia sport-utility vehicle was missing from Taylor Kia of Boardman, 7975 Market St.

Theft: A North Lima woman noticed $750 missing from her wallet while at a Windham Court business.

Drugs: Authorities charged a 27-year-old Daytona Beach, Fla., man with illegal processing of drug documents and deception to obtain dangerous drugs, both fifth-degree felonies, after an employee at Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road, reported receiving two fake prescription slips. A doctor confirmed that she was not authorized to give the man such a prescription, a report showed.

Theft: A 39-year-old Butler, Pa., man was charged in the theft of a $69 women’s shirt from Dillard’s in the Southern Park Mall. He also was wanted on outstanding warrants charging him with assault and cruelty to a child.

Criminal mischief: An Erskine Avenue woman accused a neighbor of deliberately tossing sticks into her yard.

Theft: A man reported his daughter’s $700 flute was stolen at Boardman Center Middle School, 7410 Market St.

Robbery: A Warren woman, 18, faced charges of robbery, breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools after clothing had been stolen from T.J. Maxx & More, 717 Boardman-Poland Road. The teen removed tags from the merchandise, then became combative with store personnel who tried to detain her, police said.

Theft/criminal damaging: A woman’s vehicle’s window was broken at a Doral Drive store. Stolen was a car stereo.

Theft: A refrigerator sandwich unit was removed from Bruno Brothers Pizza in the Southern Park Mall.

Bad checks: Officers booked a 30-year-old Niles woman at the Mahoning County Jail on warrants from the township charging her with two counts of passing bad checks. She was accused of writing a check on a closed account at Architectural Ceramic Products, 631 Boardman-Canfield Road.

April 16

Fraud: A Rose Hedge Drive man reported receiving a letter from a bank stating he owed $2,305 worth of accumulated charges, though he never had a credit card from that bank.

Vandalism: A man reported someone tossed eggs and struck a Jeep Cherokee belonging to his father, of Brookfield Avenue.

Theft: A Youngstown boy, 16, was accused in the theft of a $68 pair of shoes from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Aggravated menacing: A female employee of a Boardman-Poland Road eatery told officers a co-worker threatened to kill her.

Counterfeit: A woman used a phony $100 gift card to pay for a meal at Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill, 6691 South Ave.

April 17

Recovered property: Police told a South Avenue man that his 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier had been towed after the man reported the car stolen while in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Assault: A township woman told police a man had thrown and broken a beer bottle near her at a South Avenue restaurant, then punched her twice in the face and tried to drag her by the hair.

Arrest: A Youngstown woman, 38, was taken into custody on a probation-violation charge after having been pulled over near Glenwood Avenue.

Theft: A Greenville, Pa., man left a Boardman-Poland Road business to discover an AM/FM/compact-disc player, a cell phone charger and another item missing from his car.

Theft: The landlord of a Shields Road apartment accused a former tenant of removing an air-conditioning unit from a window.

Theft: Two $85 bicycles were taken from a residence in the 100 block of Indianola Road.

Theft: A Wellsville man, 28, was charged with theft and criminal trespassing after eight video games were stolen from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A man went inside a Market Street bank to report his card was stuck in an automated teller machine. When he came out, the man noticed the card and $60 missing.

Counterfeit: A phony $100 bill was passed at Target.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone removed hinge pins from a door before possibly entering a building in the 7600 block of Market Street. It was undetermined if entry had been made or if anything was missing.

April 18

Theft: A Pinetree Lane man reported the theft of $300, eight recipe cards and a set of car keys from his home.

Theft: A Brookfield Avenue man reported a metal dolly and sundial lawn decoration stolen from his yard.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Market Street led to a 19-year-old Youngstown man’s being charged with possession of dangerous drugs and a controlled substance. A small bag of suspected marijuana and several small bags of a white powder similar to cocaine were found, officers said.

April 19

Criminal damaging: A window was broken at a Mayflower Drive business.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Golfview Drive man and five other people reported vehicle damage. Items stolen included an MP3 player and checks.

Criminal mischief: Graffiti was found on a vehicle and residence on Annawan Lane.

Assault: A township boy, 17, was charged after police responded to a fight between two employees at a U.S. Route 224 eatery. A surveillance video revealed the teen had pushed the co-worker, slammed him into a wall, placed him in a head lock and punched the accuser, a report said.

Theft: A man around age 30 took three DVDs from Wal-Mart.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone smashed a double-pane window at Sportsworld, 8249 South Ave., though no entry was gained.
