O-My-O chapter honors member for dedication

Chizmar

AUSTINTOWN — O-My-O Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association honored Estelle Chizmar as its 2009 Woman of the Year during a dinner meeting Feb. 19 at Lucianno’s Restaurant.

Announcement of her selection was made by president Mary Brown, who also crowned the honoree in the presence of members of her family.

Chizmar will receive her Woman of the Year pin when she represents the chapter at an annual ABWA Network Council Fashion Show in September. She will also serve as a voting member at the National Convention this fall in Kansas City, Kan.

Chizmar joined the Emerald Green Chapter of ABWA as a charter member in 1972 and was the chapter’s Woman of the Year in 1986. When the chapter disbanded in 1991, she joined the O-My-O Chapter, where she has served on many committees and as corresponding secretary.

With her late husband, John, Chizmar established Chizmar’s Toy Center and Chizmar’s Concessions, operating both after his death until 2007. She has six children, Marianne Frederick, John Chizmar Jr., Suzanne Blanco, Gerald Chizmar, Matthew Chizmar, and Roseanne Morrow, and 10 grandchildren.

Chizmar is also active with the Ladies of Charity, Muscular Dystrophy Board, and the Labor Day Telethon. She has worked with the Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls, and is past president of the Knights of Columbus Ladies and St. Matthias Infant of Prague Guild. She received a10-year secretary award from the Fraternal Order of Eagles 213, and is serving as District 8 leader.
