BOARDMAN — A Struthers man faces multiple charges, accused of striking the windshield of another man’s car with a baseball bat.
Police charged Michael A. Hartman, 22, of Fourth Street, with two counts each of felonious assault and misdemeanor assault and a misdemeanor county of criminal damaging.
Hartman was housed in the Mahoning County Jail on a $39,500 bond and is expected to appear today in Mahoning County Court here.
A man told police he was in a car with two other people early Saturday following two women who were in another car as one of the women went to the home of Hartman, the woman’s ex-boyfriend, to drop off some of Hartman’s belongings, a police report said. The man waited in the lot of a South Avenue restaurant.
The man told police he then saw the woman’s car being chased by Hartman’s car, and he followed onto Lynn Mar Avenue. He said Hartman stopped his car sideways in the road. The man stopped his car, and then Hartman backed his car into the man’s. Hartman then got out of his car with a baseball bat and struck the windshield of the man’s car, according to the police report.
Hartman also ripped out the compact-disc player from his former girlfriend’s car, the police report said, and ripped a ring off her hand, cutting her thumb, the police report said. He’s also accused of punching the woman’s friend in the shoulder.
