Thunder notebook \ From Wachovia Arena

Familiar face: The Thunder saw a familiar face across the line of scrimmage. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s Royce Morgan earned All-af2 second team honors at defensive end for Mahoning Valley last year. With the Thunder, Morgan had 16.5 tackles for losses, 15 sacks, three blocked kicks, four forced fumbles and an interception. Morgan made his mark on the game in the waning moments of the first half, picking up a fumble and returning it to the Thunder 13 with five seconds to go. He finished with one solo tackle and one assist.

On the run: Entering the game, the Thunder had five rushing touchdowns this season — all by quarterbacks Blake Powers and Davon Vinson. Powers scored twice to make it seven rushing touchdowns for the quarterbacks.

Just for kicks: Derek Schorejs opened the scoring for the Thunder on their first drive, but it wasn’t easy. The third-year kicker from Bowling Green nailed a season-long 38-yard field goal that accounted for all of the Thunder’s scoring in the first quarter. He was one of the few Thunder players who had a good game against Tulsa last week as he made all five extra-point tries he attempted. He wasn’t perfect this week, however. When Schorejs attempted a 57-yard field goal in the third quarter, his kick bounced off the scoreboard above the field. He also missed an extra point in the third quarter.

Up next: Two weeks ago, the Thunder was routed by Tulsa, 79-35, the largest margin of defeat in franchise history, and are coming off giving up 80 points for the first time in team history against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Now the Thunder get to see the Talons again as Tulsa visits the Chevrolet Centre on Saturday.
