TV switch and ACTION to be topics


YOUNGSTOWN — WFMJ Community Connection will air at 6:30 a.m. Sunday on Channel 21.

The Federal Communications Commission has given an extension for television viewers with a new deadline of June 12 before stations switch to digital transmission from analog. Bob Flis, chief engineer at WFMJ Television Inc., will talk with host Madonna Chism Pinkard about what consumers need to know about converter boxes, the upcoming deadline and how to be prepared to continue watching local television.

Members of A.C.T.I.O.N., Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods, will discuss ACTION Sunday set for April 26. Members, George Garchar, the Rev. Robert Johnson and Minister Lawrence Williams will encourage congregational participation in the elimination of crime and increased awareness.
