Warren woman charged with robbery in Boardman store

STAFF REPORT

BOARDMAN — Police arrested a Warren woman accused of using her baby’s carrier to shoplift from a Boardman-Poland Road discount department store.

Shar’Dell Lowery, 18, Roberts Avenue Northwest, is charged with robbery, breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools.

About 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to TJ Maxx & More on a report of a shoplifter who was fighting with store security.

The security officer told police that he saw Lowery remove tags and hangers from clothing and hide them under her clothes and underneath her baby’s carrier.

Another female with Lowery was holding the carrier, under which Lowery was accused of concealing items. That woman fled with the carrier and wasn’t apprehended.

Lowery told the security officer that she had hidden merchandise on her as a distraction for her friend to get away.

No merchandise was recovered on Lowery, but she admitted to police that she removed tags and hangers from items and concealed them to steal them, a police report said. She said she got scared and put all of the items back before she left. No items were recovered in the store.

The breaking-and-entering charge stems from a previous no-trespass warning issued to Lowery for all TJ Maxx stores and she’s accused of a felony — the robbery — while trespassing at the store, the report says.
