Reward for lost 'dog'

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a $300 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for vandalizing a chamber-owned bulldog statue last month.

The statue, which has been displayed on Market Street the past several months, was beheaded. Chamber officials said the statue is to be replaced.

The chamber has been selling the statues to raise money to pay for the annual July 4 fireworks display at the city park. The bulldog is the city school district’s mascot. Once the statues are purchased, they are decorated and displayed throughout the city.

Officials said the chamber intends to open an account at the local Huntington Bank branch so any residents wanting to contribute additional money to the reward can do so.
