Coitsville Seniors to meet

COITSVILLE — Coitsville Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at Coitsville Town Hall. A casserole luncheon is planned; those attending are asked to take their own place setting. A 50-50 raffle will take place, and card bingo will be played. Birthdays and anniversaries will be honored.

Wine Taste scheduled

COITSVILLE — Coitsville Concerned Citizens Group will sponsor a homemade wine taste from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Brownstone Court, state Route 616 in Coitsville.

Autism fundraiser

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. — Silver Lining Farm LLC, 179 Wet Track Road, will be the setting at 10 a.m. Saturday for an English Equitation Clinic. The cost is $35 and all proceeds will benefit the Western Pennsylvania Autism Chapter. Susann Jones is the owner and rider.

ABWA chapter schedules annual Chinese auction

YOUNGSTOWN — An annual Chinese auction, sponsored by the Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association, will take place April 26 at St. Matthias Church Hall, 2800 Shady Run Road.

The auction tickets are $4 and may be purchased in advance by calling Shirley Pappagallo after 6 p.m. at (330) 270-9779, or they will be available at the door.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and the auction will begin at 2. The door prizes are $150, $100 and $50. There will be a lottery ticket tree and a gift certificate tree for participants to bid on. Refreshments will be served.

The proceeds will benefit the chapter’s education fund.

Kite festival to honor cancer victim’s memory

AUSTINTOWN — The Jessica Moorhead Foundation for Hope will sponsor its Let Your Dreams Fly Kite Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 25 at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.

The day of family fun will benefit the pediatric cancer patients in our community. Participants can make kites, fly kites and see kite exhibitions.

Other activities to enjoy include a life-size Candyland game, games of skill, karaoke, American Idol, face painting, pony rides, and food. Games are free or modestly priced. Admission is $5 per car.

Leadership corporation to celebrate anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — Leadership Mahoning Valley will kick off its 25th anniversary celebration with a Legacy of Leadership event at 5:30 p.m. April 29 at Antone’s Banquet Centre in Boardman.

During the event, the board of trustees will honor the following for their service to the program: Joan Tims (1984-1986), Suzanne Fleming (1986-1995), Marilyn Pogue (1995-2000), Susan Moore (2000-2006), and Karen Stacey (2006-2009).

The nonprofit corporation recognizes individuals with diverse backgrounds and experience who demonstrate leadership talent and commitment to the community.

Girard church plans soup cook-off, open house

GIRARD — Family Promise of Mahoning Valley Inc. will have a Soup Cook-off and Open House from noon to 3 p.m. May 23 at First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St. Featured will be a silent auction and three competition categories for soup: Professional, nonprofessional and clergy.

Admission cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children for all the soup you can eat.

Fun Night scheduled by fireworks committee

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Hermitage Business Association’s Fireworks Committee has planned a community fun night from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 30 at Bob Evans, 115 S. Hermitage Road.

Those interested in participating can obtain a flier from any HBA member business or download the flier from www.hermitage.net/hba.

Bob Evans will donate 15 percent of every check, accompanied by a flier, to the committee. All proceeds from the night will be used for the fireworks extravaganza on July 3.
