Coin named video coordinator of year


YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State video coordinator Shawn Coin, who died last August after a football practice, has been named the 2008-09 Big Ten Conference Video Coordinator of the Year, the Collegiate Sports Video Association announced recently.

Coin was nominated within the conference for the award by Ohio State video coordinator Mark Quisenberry. Coin is now eligible to receive the Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year Award. The awards will be presented during the organization’s yearly convention May 11-14 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Other Conference Video Coordinators of the Year are: ACC, Todd McCarthy (Georgia Tech); Big East, Chris Hayes (Rutgers); Big 12, Brian Martin (Oklahoma); Conference USA, John Kvatek (UCF); Mid-American, D.J. Welte (Ball State); Mountain West, Brian Murphy (San Diego State); Pac 10, Mike Gleeson (Stanford); Southeastern, Don Rawson (Alabama); Sun Belt, Steve Cutcher (Florida Atlantic); Western Athletic, Matt Dimmitt (Boise State); Independent, Tim Collins (Notre Dame) and Jake Stroot (Appalachian State).
