A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
April 7
Drugs: A traffic stop near U.S. Route 224 and Center Road led to the arrest of a Cleveland-area man, 40, on a charge of possession of marijuana when, police said, a small bag of suspected marijuana was found.
April 8
Criminal mischief: A township man’s vehicle was damaged while he was in the 3100 block of Dobbins Road.
Criminal damaging: A man reported damage to his residence in the 8600 block of Van Drive.
Theft/damage: A Poland man discovered an outboard motor and a trim-mounting bracket unit missing from his boat stored in the 6800 block of Stymie Road. He also noticed two holes in the boat.
April 9
Theft: A man reported an all-terrain vehicle, a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle missing from his parents’ Center Road home.
BOARDMAN
April 9
Counterfeit: A woman cashed an $850 paycheck at Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive. The check later proved to be counterfeit, a report showed.
Theft: Someone stole $234 worth of clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Burglary: A residence in the 40 block of Erskine Avenue was entered. Taken was a $1,200 item.
Theft: A man discovered a set of quarter panels and metal shelves missing from his South Avenue business.
Theft: A Stadler Avenue man reported $3,959 had been stolen.
Theft: A Youngstown girl, 17, was charged after a pair of sunglasses, a ring and a pair of shoes were stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Two Youngstown boys, 16 and 17, were charged, accused of removing two compact discs from Wal-Mart.
Theft: A 26-year-old Youngstown woman was booked on a felony charge at Mahoning County Jail. Earlier, an employee with a Southern Park Mall business had been accused of making three debit-card refunds on an account using several names; she admitted having processed fraudulent credit refunds totaling $506, a report said.
Arrest: A vehicle check on Market Street resulted in a 35-year-old Youngstown woman’s being taken into custody on a felony probation-violation count.
Domestic violence: A township man, 48, was charged with domestic violence (threats) after a woman alleged that while on the phone, her husband placed his fist in her face and threatened to punch her.
April 10
Domestic violence: A 25-year-old Shields Road man faced charges of domestic violence, disrupting public services, disorderly conduct and making false alarms after a woman alleged her boyfriend had pushed her, causing the accuser to strike her head on the corner of a dresser. The man then called 911, claiming he was about to kill someone with knives, prompting an emergency response, a report said.
Criminal damaging: An undetermined object was used to scratch a car’s hood in the 6500 block of Market Street.
Theft: A woman in her 20s stole two pairs of women’s shoes from Payless Shoesource, 48 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Identity theft: A Rose Hedge Drive man reported a credit-card account had been opened with his personal information after he received from a collection agency a bill stating $829 was owed.
Counterfeit: Nine phony $20 bills were passed at Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.
Possible theft: A Traymore Drive man reported his driver’s license lost or stolen.
Counterfeit: Someone tried to pass a fake $100 travelers check at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 381 Boardman-Poland Road.
April 11
Criminal damaging: A Salem woman driving on Southern Boulevard reported her windshield was struck by a BB or pellet.
Theft: Around $13,000 was reported stolen from the estate of a Wolosyn Circle resident.
Felonious assault: Authorities charged a 19-year-old Mathews Road man after his girlfriend alleged he tossed and struck her with a porcelain vase during an argument, causing a 6-inch welt on her back.
Theft: A woman’s purse was stolen as she patronized a Market Street store.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered MVG Auto Supply, 5218 Youngstown-Poland Road, in the rear and took an undisclosed amount of money.
Theft: A 20-year-old Boardman woman was accused in the theft of $58 worth of makeup from Wal-Mart.
Theft: A Tiffany Boulevard store employee’s purse was taken while she was at work.
Theft: A township man reported the theft of a trailer in the 5300 block of Market Street.
Theft: A Struthers woman reported $500 missing from her purse while in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: A Youngstown girl, 15, was charged in the theft of $30 worth of clothing from Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road.
April 12
Criminal mischief: A Woodlawn Avenue man reported eggs had been thrown at his residence. Also, a woman told police someone had sprayed her vehicle with shaving cream.
Theft: The driver of a white Jeep Cherokee pumped $40 worth of gasoline and left a Unimart station, 1090 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying.
Theft: A Canfield woman’s purse was stolen while she was at a U.S. Route 224 store.
April 13
Theft: Police responded to a suspicious person near Hillman Way and took a Youngstown man, 47, wanted on a theft charge into custody.
