Kitchen fire causes $30,000 in damage

WARREN — A pot left on the stove caused more than $30,000 worth of damage to a city home.

Firefighters responded to a call at 557 Todd Ave. at 6:50 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fire in the kitchen of the two-story home. The fire is believed to be caused by a pot left on the stove.

The fire was confined to the kitchen, but heat and smoke damage was evident throughout the house, a dispatcher said. Firefighters cleared the scene at 8 p.m.

Damage was set at $20,000 for the structure and an additional $12,000 for its contents. No one was in the home at the time of the fire. The house is a rental property and authorities remain in search of the owner.
