Cavaliers’ Wallace bruises knee in victory
CLEVELAND — Cavaliers center Ben Wallace bruised his left knee in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Boston Celtics and did not return.
Wallace, who recently returned to the lineup after missing 17 games with a broken right leg, will undergo an MRI today.
It’s not clear how he got hurt, and the team did not immediately say if Wallace will undergo further medical tests.
Wallace has been coming off the bench for the first time in his career since he returned. He’s averaging just 3.0 points and 6.5 rebounds, but he’s perhaps Cleveland’s best interior defender.
Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs decided to rest Tim Duncan for Sunday’s game against Sacramento, giving a rare day off to their star big man and his aching knees.
Even with the Spurs still in the race for the Southwest Division title and playoff positioning, coach Gregg Popovich decided Duncan should sit when they face the NBA-worst Kings.
Duncan is expected to be back for tonight’s game at Golden State.
