Burglary suspects

YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested three men after a burglary at a house on East Avondale Avenue.

Police responding to a report of the burglary in progress found the suspects in the driveway at a house nearby.

When police approached, two of them ran while officers detained one in the driveway.

After police called for backup and dogs, several people, including a woman and a child, came out of the house, the police report said.

When police went inside, they found several television sets, DVD players, a computer and several handguns. They found a flat-screen TV in the back seat of the car.

Charged with burglary are James A. Sunderman, 23, and Lucky R. Mitchell, 26, both of Youngstown.

Derrick L. Smith, 19, also of Youngstown, is charged with possession of a dangerous ordnance. He told police that one of the handguns was his, the police report said.

All three men were taken to Mahoning County Jail.

Man stabbed at bar

YOUNGSTOWN — A city man was stabbed early Sunday in a bar fight, police report.

The 24-year-old told police he tried to break up a fight between two other people around 2 a.m. at Somewhere Else Bar on Mahoning Avenue. Then, everyone in the bar started fighting.

He said he noticed later in the parking lot that he’d been stabbed, but he did not know who did it. He was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Struthers house fire

STRUTHERS — A fire heavily damaged a three-story house at 140 Perry St. about 4:10 p.m. Sunday, the fire department said.

Residents Nathan and Susan Moore and one of their four children were home when the fire broke out.

There were no injuries, the fire department said.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.

Berlin Lake meeting

BERLIN CENTER — The Berlin Lake Association will have its spring meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Deerfield Town Hall on state Route 14.

Members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will present information on the water drawdown schedule at Berlin Lake. Members will vote on two director positions. Others interested are welcome.
