Ursuline blanks United; South Range, Rockets split


HANOVERTON — Kasey Foley’s three hits included two doubles and drove in three runs for the Ursuline High softball team, which beat United 8-0 on Saturday.

Anna Donko homered and doubled while Malikka Caige had two hits for the Irish (4-1). Winning pitcher Casey Lower (4-1) struck out 10 and walked one. For the Eagles (6-2), Caitlin Higgins, Krista McCartney and Erin Briceland had singles.

South Range 4-1, Lowellville 1-2

LOWELLVILLE — Madison Yanek pitched a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts and a walk to lead South Range (3-4) in the first game. Laura Biroschak singled, doubled and scored twice and Yanek added a pair of singles. For Lowellville (2-3), Cori Pavlicko had two hits. In the second game, Jackie Chiclow hit an RBI triple in the fifth to score Teresa Sanchez for the game-winner. Emily Seman had two doubles for the Raiders.

Lisbon 4, Western Reserve 0

BERLIN CENTER — Lauren Ketchum pitched a one-hitter, striking out 10 and walking three to lead Lisbon. Anna Hipple had two hits for Lisbon. Elizabeth Srock struck out 12 and walked four for Reserve (4-2).

Fitch 6, Ravenna 1

AUSTINTOWN — Emily Purnell and Amanda Callahan each had two RBIs while Megan Carney had one for the Falcons (2-1). For Ravenna (0-3), Holly Plaso tripled.

Late Friday Jackson-Milton 2, United 0

HANOVERTON — Senior Katelynn Pirko had a two-RBI single in the top of the sixth to life J-M. Junior Lindsey Knipp tossed a two-hitter with 15 strikouts and Julie Franko had two hits.
