Trooper honored

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper from Niles has been named Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspector of the Year. Paul E. Gerke, who works in Hiram, is a motor carrier enforcement inspector. He is a graduate of the 123rd Academy class and has been assigned to the Hiram post since 2002.

Gerke is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Gerke Sr. of Girard. He lives in Niles with his wife, Valerie, and their sons, Daniel and Dustin.
