Right to Life sets fund-raising dinner

BOARDMAN — Thomas Strobhar, founder and president of Pro Vita Advisors, is the keynote speaker for Mahoning County Right to Life’s first fund-raising dinner April 23 at The Georgetown.

Pro Vita Advisors is a nonprofit group that “seeks to identify and challenge corporations involved in immoral and anti-life activities,” according to its Web site. Since its founding in 1989, it has been an opponent of Planned Parenthood and has confronted large corporations on issues including abortion, embryonic stem-cell research, pornography and gay rights.

Defendlife.org credits Strobhar, a Dayton stockbroker, with forcing more than 160 companies to stop funding Planned Parenthood, through the purchase of stocks and subsequent shareholder protest campaigns.

Attendance is by invitation only; anyone interested in attending may obtain an invitation by contacting Mary Rose Kimes at (330) 782-8621. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.; dinner will be served at 7. The program also will include a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle.

Mahoning Right to Life also is seeking more churches to sell carnations for its main yearly fundraiser. The flowers are sold for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Churches order the flowers through the organization.

Mahoning Right to Life is an educational organization that provides a speakers bureau and counseling to unwed mothers.
