McCulloh clutch in Spartans’ win
UNIONTOWN — Boardman senior Kevin McCulloh (2-0) struck out eight with one walk over eight innings, holding Lake to one earned run en route to a 4-3 victory in a Federal League baseball game.
Mike Calautti hit a one-out, bases-loaded sacrifice fly to score Nick DiNello in the top of the eighth for the game-winner.
Joe Smith doubled and singled for Lake.
Chaney 8-5, Lowellville 7-6
STRUTHERS — In Chaney’s win, Dustin Guyer struck out nine while Francisco Morales recorded a save.
Andrew Weiser had key hits for the Cowboys while Dane Abbas had two hits for the Rockets.
In Lowellville’s win, Abbas and Anthony Schiraldi had key hits.
For the Cowboys, Morales and Dan Fanzo each had two hits.
Mooney 11, Woodland Hills (Pa.) 8
STRUTHERS — Dana Eich went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Nick Vazquez and Ed Reese each singled, tripled and drove in two for Mooney (3-0).
Tim Conelly was 3-for-3 for Woodland Hills (4-1).
Springfield 19-10, Liberty 0-5
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Travis Richey pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks to lead Springfield in the first game.
Richey also had two hits, Todd Kibbey hit a grand slam, Bryan Visingardi had two hits, including a three-run homer, and three RBIs and Dylon DeJane and Brad Ferraro each added two hits and an RBI.
In the second game, Richey had two hits and two RBIs and DeJane had two hits for the Tigers (6-0).
For Liberty (1-3), Brandon Martin was 2-for-3 and Austin Eppstein was 2-for-4.
LaBrae 7, Waterloo 6
LEAVITTSBURG — Dale Hinzman hit a two-out, bases-loaded double to score three runs and lift LaBrae.
Hinzman went the distance for the mound win and went 4-for-4 at the plate with five RBIs.
Waterloo is 0-3.
Columbiana 10-14, Jackson-Milton 0-3
COLUMBIANA — Rob Barbado tossed a no-hitter and Matt Douglas had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Clippers in the first game.
In the second game, Ty Denmeade had two hits and Josh Saverko singled, doubled and drove in four runs for Columbiana (5-3).
Jay Williamson and Jeff Davidson had two RBIs in the win.

BERLIN CENTER — John Gora tossed a two-hitter for the Blue Devils. Jake Barker’s two hits included a double and knocked in three runs. Chris Kalbfell hit a two-run double.
Mathews 18, Ledgemont 0
VIENNA — Chris Morgan tossed a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 12 and walking one.
Nick Gealy, Greg Wise and Morgan homered. Rick Sommers hit two doubles and Wise had one.
John Swank and John Homan each had two hits.
