Concessionaire contract
VIENNA — The Air Force Reserve’s 910th Airlift Wing, located at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station, has signed a concessionaire contract with National Concession Co. of Cleveland for the upcoming open house/air show scheduled for Aug. 8 and 9.
“This is a win-win situation because National Concession Co. will buy their food locally, plus it will allow multiple local vendors to sell unique food at the event,” said Col. Karl McGregor, air station and 910th commander.
Trumbull partnership
WARREN — The Trumbull County commissioners and Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber have renewed their partnership to promote economic development in the county. The board of commissioners unanimously approved a one-year agreement that supports the Chamber’s Business Retention and Expansion Program.
“This program is important because an estimated 80 percent of a community’s job growth results from companies that are already present. Our goal is to interact with key executives and provide these decision-makers with the economic development ammunition needed for their firms to remain and grow here,” said Walter Good, the chamber’s vice president of economic development, business retention and expansion.
In 2008, through the R&E program, the chamber helped General Motors secure tax credits so that the company could make investments required to build the Chevrolet Cruze at its Lordstown Complex, Good said.
Park improvements
LISBON — Lock 30 Woodlands RV Resort here is among a number of private Ohio parks making improvements despite an economy mired in recession, said Linda Profaizer, president and chief executive officer of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, which represents the more than 8,000 private parks across the country.
Lock 30 Woodlands, a 66-site park, which features several historic red barns from the late 1800s as well as the last unrestored lock on the historic Sandy and Beaver Canal, is making $40,000 worth of improvements for this year’s camping season.
“We are doing upgrades to attract a market niche of campers interested in Western Reserve historic and rural components of this part of Ohio,” said Lock 30 Woodlands owner Karen Brucoli Anesi.
