Rate plans Ohio utilities
A look at the status of electric rate plans for the two largest electric suppliers in Ohio:
American Electric Power: Had proposed a 52 percent increase over three years, but Public Utilities Commission reduced it to 20 percent. Company has not yet accepted plan. State consumers’ counsel plans to ask for rehearing.
FirstEnergy: Had proposed an increase of roughly 16 percent on average bill, but the utilities commission reduced it considerably. The company rejected the plan and will now conduct a competitive bid process to determine the price of generation rates.
