WARREN — Officers from the police departments in Warren, Howland, the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshal’s Service descended on the area around the Elm Road Drive-In this morning after a man robbed the First Place Bank in the Elm Road Plaza next door.

The bank reported that it had been robbed at about 10:50 a.m. by a white man about 6 feet tall in his early 20s wearing a blue zippered jacket with a black or navy blue stocking cap.

The man told bank employees he had a gun but none was seen.

After robbing the bank, he fled to the wooded area to the south of the plaza, behind the drive-in. The area sits on the border between Warren and Howland.

As of about 11:10 a.m, officers had not located the man.
