Ambassadors for Christ: The organization of six churches on Youngstown’s East Side will gather at noon today for its eighth annual journey with the cross. Participants walk along in song and prayer with each person having a chance to carry the cross. The group also stops along the way at street corners for Stations of the Cross prayers. The journey will begin at We Walk by Faith Bible Church, 1636 Himrod Ave., and follow Oak Street toward downtown Youngstown, then left onto Wick Avenue, left onto East Federal Street, over the bridge to Wilson Avenue and conclude at St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church, 854 Wilson Ave. Participants may meet at We Walk by Faith or St. Stephen’s between 11:30-11:45 a.m. Transportation will be provided from St. Stephen of Hungary to We Walk by Faith. Member churches are Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist, Mount Zion Baptist, St. James Church of God in Christ, St. John African Methodist Episcopal, St. Stephen of Hungary and We Walk by Faith.

Bessemer Presbyterian Church, 29 N. Main St., Bessemer, Pa.: Carrying the cross at 7 p.m. starting at First Covenant Church, borough square, and ending at Bessemer Presbyterian.

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., Mineral Ridge: Silent walk carrying the cross from Ridge Creek Plaza, 3971 Main St., to the church at noon with walkers meeting at 11:45 a.m. in the church parking lot, and “service of shadows” at 7:30 p.m. with special music by Eric McClellan and Anita Miller.
