LACROSSE
Slippery Rock 21, Seton Hill 8
GREENSBURG, Pa. — Amy Halls (Westerville, Ohio/Olentangy) scored six goals and moved into a tie for second on the single-season scoring ledger as the Slippery Rock women’s lacrosse team (4-9) defeated Seton Hill.
The win is the fourth of the season for The Rock, marking the first four-win season for the program since the 1990 team finished 4-7. Entering this season, Slippery Rock had posted back-to-back winless campaigns in its first two years of competition since reinstating the sport after a 15-year absence.
Halls goals bring her season total to 45, tied for second in the record books with Regina Lynch, who accomplished the feat in 1985. She needs just two more goals to tie the record of 47, set by April Ennis in 1990.
Halls wasn’t the only offensive standout for The Rock Thursday, as both Casey Quinn (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) and Alexis Slutsky (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) each scored a career-high four goals. Slutsky added two assists for a six-point effort.
Also scoring multiple goals was Alison Rusnak (Stow, Ohio/Stow Munroe Falls), who finished with two markers. Chelsey Rovesti (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) scored her first goal of the season and Sam Huebner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), Katie Roof (Calvert County, Md./Calvert) and Samantha Eddy (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) all found the net once.
