Shelton helps lift Hubbard


NILES — Matt Shelton slammed a three-run double in the top of the seventh inning to snap a 7-7 tie and provide the winning margin for Hubbard.

Todd Gasior had two singles and five RBIs for the Eagles (1-4).

Nick Harper had two RBIs for Niles (1-1).

Struthers 7, Beaver Local 2

LISBON — Jake Thomas went 3-for-3 with a run and three RBIs and Steve Wilaj went 2-for-3 with two runs for Struthers.

Joe Diloreto struck out nine in a complete game victory. Travis Lynch had two hits for Beaver Local.

Champion 12, Girard 10

GIRARD — Derek Sumner had three hits and two RBIs, Rick Yauger had three hits and an RBI and Scott Bailey had two hits, including a homer, and three RBIs for Champion (1-2, 1-0 AAC Blue).

For Girard (1-1, 0-1), Michael Floravit had a grand slam and a single, A.J. Weibel singled, tripled and homered and drove in three and Brandon Hunkus singled and drove in two.

Fitch 9, Canton McKinley 0

CANTON — Fitch senior catcher Jason Bagoly hit a solo homer in the first inning and finished 2-for-2 with two walks to lead the Falcons.

Senior Ricky Segesto had two singles and three RBIs for the Falcons (3-0, 1-0 Federal).

Over six innings, junior Chris Miller gave up four hits, struck out seven and issued one walk.

Warren JFK 3, Western Reserve 0

BERLIN CENTER — Freshman Brandon Cox (1-0) picked up his first varsity win, surrendering three hits in five shutout innings with four strikeouts and a walk to lead JFK (2-0).

Jeff Follmeyer struck out four without a walk in two shutout innings of relief. Cox and Dominic LaPolla each added two hits.

Reserve is 2-2.

Lowellville 8, Sebring 2

LOWELLVILLE — Senior Drew Skelley pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks to lead Lowellville (4-2, 3-1 ITCL Tier Two). Anthony Alfano added two hits and two RBIs and Dante Abbas had three RBIs. Sebring is 1-2, 1-2.

McDonald 20, Wellsville 3

WELLSVILLE — Anthony Raschilla socked a three-run homer with a double and single and had five RBIs, while Zach Puntel rapped a two-run homer and two singles and had four RBIs, to spark McDonald.

Raschilla also got the mound win, teaming with Alex Baker to pitch a five-hitter.

Mike Gatta contributed a two-run homer and double to aid the Blue Devils (3-0, 3-0 ITCL Tier Two).

Columbiana 11, United 6

COLUMBIANA — Tyler Denmeade had three hits and four RBIs and Travis Denmeade added three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs to lead Columbiana (3-3, 3-1 ITCL Tier One), which rallied from a 6-3 deficit.

Jeremy Walker had two hits, including a homer, and four RBIs for United.

Ravenna 9, Southeast 3

RAVENNA — Anthony Pennington and Nick Hopkins each doubled in a losing effort for Southeast (1-2, 0-1 PTC Metro).

Don McCoy and Gale Peppard homered for Ravenna (3-2).
