Canfield resident earns honors at Fla. art show

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — Suzanne L. Brown, who resides in Canfield and South Fort Myers, Fla., received awards for an entry she submitted to the Bonita Springs annual members-only art show on Feb. 6.

Brown’s multipencil still life, “Summer Treats,” was one of the artworks accepted from among 330 that were submitted; 150 were declined. Her work received an honorable mention ribbon, and she was presented with the Esther Shaver Memorial Award.

Brown, also an active member and show director of the Estero Art League in Florida, has enjoyed teaching watercolor there for the past five years. She also taught at Austintown Fitch High School for 30 years.

The artist and educator lived in Boardman most of her life and is a Boardman High School graduate. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Ashland University and a master’s from Youngstown State University. Brown has also done post-graduate work at Ashland University, The University of Akron and Kent State University.
